7.RACE COURSE
The official race course is subject to the final version released by the organizers.
- COMPETITION RULES
8.1 Age Requirements
- For Marathon, participants shall be at least 20 years old on the day before the race (born before December 31st, 2005).
- For Half Marathon, participants shall be at least 16 years old on the day before the race (born before December 31st, 2009).
- For Fun Run, no age limit. Participants shall be at least 5 years old on the day before the race (born before December 31st, 2020).
NOTES:
- a) Participants below 18 years old, born after January 1st, 2008 (include) shall show the Competition Declaration signed by their guardians or legal representatives.
- b) Participants over 65 years old (include) shall show the Competition Declaration signed by their guardians or legal representatives.
- c) Participants under 13 years old, born after January 1st, 2013(include) shall run accompanied by teachers or parents.
8.2 Health Requirements
- Marathon is an athletic sport with high load, great strength and long distances. It is also a high-risk athletic sport which has high physical demands on participants. Participants shall be in healthy condition, have experience in running and have completed training with distance over half-marathon. Anyone who has any of the following conditions is not recommended to participate:
- Cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases (including hypertension), congenital heart disease and rheumatic heart disease, chronic lung disease, diabetes, chronic liver, kidney disease, tumorand other basic diseases.
- Maintenance dialysis patients.
- Deficiency of immune function.
- Coronary artery disease and serious arrhythmia.
- Diabetes with too high or too low blood sugar.
- Moderate chest pain when doing light activity and severe coronary artery disease (angina) ;
- Diabetes with too high or too low blood sugar.
- Caught a cold in two weeks prior to the race.
- Heavy drinking or insufficient sleep the night before the race.
- Pregnancy.
- Other diseases that are not suitable for doing sports.
- Marathon is a sport that constantly challenges one's own limits and involves certain risks. Improper exercise may cause varying degrees of physical injury or even life-threatening injuries. All participants shall be liable for personal injury and property loss caused by personal health conditions or other personal reasons during the event. Before the entry, participants are advised to have physical check-up (including electrocardiographic examination) at qualified medical institutions and make a self-evaluation to confirm if the physical condition is suitable for the event of their choice.
8.3 Registration Methods and Eligibility
- If the number of applicants for any race category exceeds the quota, participant eligibility will be determined by lottery. Elite athletes invited by the Organizing Committee and professional athletes registered with the Chinese Athletics Association are exempt from this rule.
- Athletes currently listed in the Anti-Doping Registered Testing Pool (RTP) or Testing Pool (TP) of the China Anti-Doping Agency (CHINADA) must register through the "Elite Channel." General participants are not permitted to use this channel.
- Retired athletes seeking to return to competition must submit a reinstatement application in accordance with the Chinese Athletics Association’s regulations. Violations will result in disqualification of results and forfeiture of race-related benefits by the Organizing Committee.
- Participants registering for the marathon or half marathon must upload a valid road race finisher certificate (dated January 1st, 2023, or later) for a race of half marathon distance or longer.
- Individuals may register via the official event website or WeChat official account. For specific registration dates and procedures, please refer to the official "Registration Guidelines."
- If any race category exceeds its quota, eligibility will be determined by lottery. This year’s event includes guaranteed entry for:
- Qualified athletes from the Guilin Bank·2025 Half Marathon (eligible for marathon entry as per the 2025 Guilin Half Marathon rules, non-transferable).
- Time-qualified athletes.
- Charity runners.
- Other invited athletes (e.g., pacers, sponsors, media partners).

- In accordance with World Athletics Elite Label standards, the event will extend special invitations to elite athletes.
- Athletes ineligible to register include: Those currently suspended by World Athletics, the Chinese Athletics Association, or the Guilin Marathon Organizing Committee.

- Charity Registration
- The2025 Guilin Marathonhas specially opened a charity runner registration channel. Participants who voluntarily donate an additional 500 RMB/person (on top of the standard entry fee) will qualify as charity runners and enjoy exclusive benefits. Only 300 slots are available—first come, first served. Specific registration methods and benefits will be announced in the Charity Registration Guidelines.
- Theorganizers pledgethat all additional 500 RMB donations from charity runners will be donated in full to the "Gusto Meisheng Charity Fund" under the Guangdong Changjiang Charity Foundation. This fund focuses on hiring top-tier university sports mentors to support poverty alleviation and education initiatives; Improving sports infrastructure in underprivileged schools; Organizing continuing education programs for physical education teachers; Promoting sports culture and training rural PE teachers.
- Eligible Events: Open to all race categories (participants must meet the respective event’s eligibility requirements).

8.7 Race Refund Service:
- Race Refund:
(1) Runners who have submitted registration information and payment can apply for refund service on their own on the order page within the period of refund and change service.
(2)
Withdrawal and Refund
Within 24 hours of payment:
✓ No fees charged for withdrawals
✓ Full refund processed within 1 working day via original payment method
After 24 hours of payment:
✓ Service fee: RMB 20 per withdrawal
✓ Remaining balance refunded within 1 working day
(3) After the lottery results are announced, all entry fees for non-selected athletes or those who fail the qualification review will be fully refunded through the original payment method within 7 working days.
(4) For successfully selected athletes, voluntary withdrawals with partial refunds (80% of entry fee) can be processed through the registration page before 18:00 on September 18th, with refunds issued within 2 working days via the original payment channel. No withdrawals or refunds will be accepted after the September 18th deadline.
- Those who do not meet the qualifications for registration audited by the Organizing Committee can resubmit the qualification certificates that meet the requirements before the closing date of registration, and cannot resubmit them after the closing date of registration. The registration fee for those who fail to pass the qualification audit and those who do not win the lottery will be returned in full in the same way within 7 working days after the announcement of the ballot results.
8.8 Race Bag Pick-Up
All registered participants must collect their race bag at the designated expo venue before the race. Detailed collection procedures will be specified in the "Race Bag Collection Guidelines", which will be subsequently published on the event's official website and WeChat public account. Please note that this event does not offer mailing services for race bags.
- COMPETITION RULES
9.1 The competition will be conducted in strict compliance with the 2018-2019 Athletics Competition Rules as ratified by the Chinese Athletics Association, incorporating all subsequent amendments issued by World Athletics, along with the provisions set forth in the Chinese Athletics Association Road Race Management System Documents (2025) and the specific competition regulations governing this particular event.
9.2 In accordance with the rules of the Chinese Athletics Association, disabled athletes who meet the conditions are allowed to participate in the race without speed competition. Due to course limitations, this competition only permits standard wheelchair participants and cannot accommodate racing wheelchair athletes.
9.3 Athlete Check-in: All runners must wear their bibs correctly. The closing time of Roll-call is 10 minutes before the competition starts.
9.4 START
The race will adopt a wave start system with one starting gun. Participants who make false starts will not be recalled, but will be disqualified by race referees.
9.5 Strollers are not suggested in the aggregate zone or on the course for this event.
9.6 Starting Corral Arrangement:
The starting corrals will be organized as follows: Elite marathon runners will be assigned to a dedicated starting area, while mass participants for the full and half marathon will be grouped into mixed performance-based corrals determined by their best results in A1-certified races (as classified by the Chinese Athletics Association between January 1st, 2023 and August 31st, 2025, as verified through the China Marathon Data Platform.) Fun run participants will assemble in a separate designated zone. All starting corrals will be spaced at 10-meter intervals for safety purposes.
9.7 Cut-Off Time (With the starting gun at 8:00 AM)
To ensure the safety and smooth operation of the event, time limits with rolling road closures will be implemented for each section of the course. Participants who fail to complete their respective race distances within the designated cutoff times must immediately stop racing and exit the course. Those who withdraw may either take the official sweep vehicle to the finish area or leave the venue on their own. Cut-off times are shown in the table below:

*Note: The organizing committee reserves the right to forward the Cut-Off time in case of emergency and participants are required to follow the instructions.
9.8 Timing Method
- Chip timing service will be provided to all Marathon and Half-Marathon participants. All participants shall wear the bibs with timing chip correctly and prominently on the chest during the race. Folded, covered, or damaged is not allowed, once found that the disqualification.
- The organizing committee will set up a Check-in Timing mat in front of each division, and runners must enter the race strictly according to the divisions. After the starting signal, runners will pass through the Check-in Timing mat of their division and the division in front of them first, and then pass through the timing mat at the START before their results are valid. Timing service will not be provided for the Fun Run.
- To ensure a valid result, participants should pass through the timing mats at the START and Check-in area. Timing mats are also set every 5km, 21.0975km, U-turn point, FINISH. Lack of timing record or discrepancies, the result will be reviewed and verified. Result will be canceled if any violations are found.
- High-speed electronic timing equipment certified by the China Association of Athletics Federations (CAAF) will be set up at the marathon and half marathon FINISH, which will facilitate the accurate judgment of the precise ranking of athletes reaching the finish line.
9.9 All participants who complete the marathon, half marathon, or fun run within the official cutoff times will receive digital certificates, with distinctions between award winners and general finishers: Award recipients must await the official results verification period before downloading their certificates, while other finishers who successfully pass all timing checkpoints may access their personal results or commemorative certificates within 24 hours post-race through the official 'First Track' APP."
9.10 Race-bag Storage and Pick-Up
- For Marathon and Half-Marathon participants, belongings can be stored in the designated area at the START by bib number. Storage service is available from 6:30 AM to 7:45 AM. Please use the race bag provided by the organizing committee, with a small bib number attached that matches your participant number. Do not store valuable items in the bag. Participants will be held responsible for any damage or loss of personal valuables that may occur.
- All checked bags for marathon and half marathon participants will be transported to the finish area following the baggage storage closure at 7:45, with retrieval available until 12:00 for half marathon runners and 15:00 for full marathon competitors. Participants must collect their belongings by these designated times; unclaimed items may be retrieved from the Organizing Committee within five (5) days post-event (recipients bear all mailing costs). Any belongings not collected within this period will be considered abandoned, and the Committee assumes no liability for bags not properly checked according to official procedures, including specified times, locations, and methods.
- Race-bag storage service is not provided for Fun Run.

Official Notice: The Organizing Committee reserves the right to deploy additional Water/Sponge stations and cooling mist systems between designated points along the course based on prevailing weather conditions, ensuring participant safety and optimal event conditions.
9.12 Elite Athlete Regulations
Elite athletes are categorized into International Elite Athletes (foreign competitors meeting event qualification standards) and Domestic Elite Athletes (athletes currently registered in the Anti-Doping Registered Testing Pool or Testing Pool of China's Anti-Doping Agency). Domestic elites must register through the designated channel.
- Check-In
Marathon elites must use the exclusive check-in and warm-up zone, presenting original ID on race day.
- Assembly
All marathon elites will assemble in Corral S. False starts will result in disqualification without recall.
- Athlete-Specific Hydration
Athlete-Specific Hydration stations are available every 5km. Elite athletes may submit their personal hydration bottles at the designated time and location one day prior to the race, and access them at corresponding stations. Tampering with others' drinks is prohibited. Details will be provided at the technical meeting.
- Competition Gear
All apparel must comply with World Athletics' Advertising Regulations, and shoes must be from the World Athletics Approved List. Non-compliance leads to disqualification.
- Technical Meeting
Mandatory for all elites the day before the race. Participants must bring original ID document, competition gear, bib, and shoes for inspection.
- Anti-Doping
The event will conduct doping controls per World Athletics and Chinese Athletics Association rules. All athletes (including retirees) must strictly adhere to the World Anti-Doping Code and China's Anti-Doping Regulations. Resources: China Anti-Doping Center.

Important Notes: Dual Eligibility: Chinese athletes who qualify for both the overall marathon prize money and this special award may claim both bonuses.

- Results Review Process
Official results published on the event website within 5 working days post-race. There will be a 10-day results ratification period, during which athletes may file appeals with the Competition Committee by submitting verifiable evidence should they have any objections to the published results. Disqualification applies for:

✓ Doping violations
✓ Other infractions (no upward ranking adjustment)
- According to the World Athletics Road Race Label Requirements, Top 8 marathon finishers (M/F) contribute 2% of gross prize money (pre-tax/deductions) to the Anti-Doping Fund, automatically withheld by the Organizing Committee and remitted to World Athletics
- Currency Conversion for Chinese Athletes
RMB prizes calculated using the PBOC mid-rate on race day
- Payment Terms
All monetary awards will be processed through bank transfer (no on-site cash distribution) within 30 working days following the conclusion of the 10-day results ratification period, provided no valid appeals are pending. For athletes selected for anti-doping testing, prize payments will be released only upon confirmation of negative test results. The Organizing Committee will automatically withhold and remit the mandatory 20% individual income tax from all prize amounts, with athletes receiving net post-tax awards.
13 PUNISHMENTS
13.1 Official Competition Integrity Policy for Guilin Marathon:
To uphold the highest standards of sportsmanship and event integrity, the Guilin Marathon Organizing Committee strictly enforces the following regulations:
- Entry Transfer Prohibition
- All race entries are non-transferable (both selling and purchasing prohibited)
- Participation Violations
- Bib swapping (using another runner's registration)
- Banditing (unauthorized participation)
- Counterfeit bibs (forged/falsified race numbers)
- Non-official bib usage
Penalties:
- Lifetime ban from all future events organized by Guilin Marathon Committee
- Full personal liability for all consequences arising from violations
- Legal action for financial damages or significant incidents
13.2 Video recordings are set on the entire race course, including Start, Finish, timing points, key sections of road. Participants will be ceased from the race and have their results annulled if they committed any of the followings. Further penalties, such as banned from future Guilin marathons for a period of up to 2 years or indefinite, will be given depending on the circumstances. Such conditions will also be reported to the Chinese Athletics Association, and additional penalties may be imposed:
- Falsity age or identity information or let someone else run the race.
- Run with 2 or more timing chips or run with a timing chip of the other gender).
- Racing in relay.
- Not following the start order and start at non-designated area. Rule violations when starting.
- Continuing to race after cut-off time or returning to the course after withdrawing from the race.
- Not racing along the course. Taking shortcuts or any transportation (vehicle, subway, bike, etc.)
- Crossing the finish line repeatedly or claiming post-race packages and medals with illegible bibs.
- Altering, producing, transferring, and/or selling the bib.
- Failing to follow instructions given by race officials and staff, disturbing the race order, causing riots.
- Uncivil behaviors.
- Concealing health status and providing false registration information.
- Violating rules of doping control.
- Other behaviors against the social security rules and rules of the race.
Participants who enrolled by misrepresentation or transferred entry from another person will be ceased from Guilin Marathon race for life and shall be solely responsible and accountable for all the consequences. The Organizing Committee reserved the right to investigate the responsibility of related persons and appeal to the law.
- Officials Appointment & Appeals Procedure
Competition Director, Technical Delegate, and Technical Officials shall be appointed by the Chinese Athletics Association. Chief Referee and Race Judges shall be designated by the Guangxi Social Sports Development Center and Guilin Athletics Association.
- Appeals Protocol
All athletes must comply with referees' rulings without interference. Any contestation regarding competition results or officiating decisions must be formally appealed within 30 minutes of results publication by submitting a signed Appeal Petition with supporting evidence and a RMB 500 fee (refundable if upheld). The Arbitration Committee retains full authority to reject untimely submissions (>30 minutes) and will not refund fees for dismissed appeals.
- INSURANCE
16.1. Insurance will be provided to all participants and race related personnel. If the insurance cannot be purchased or is invalid due to inaccurate or incomplete information, the responsibility will be borne by the insured person himself/herself.
16.2. Special Notes
- The insurance purchased by the Organizing Committee is personal accident insurance. If the insured person suffers from the underlying disease or other physical causes of the adverse consequences, will not belong to the accidental injury insurance claims insurance coverage. Conditions such as but not limited to cardiovascular disease, heat stroke, fainting, etc. will not be covered by the personal accident insurance purchased by the Organizing Committee. Therefore, please be careful when registering for the race;
- The Organizing Committee will provide free on-site first-aid medical services during the competition, but the medical expenses incurred by the participants and staff members who are sent to the hospital for treatment due to unexpected situations will be taken care of by the participants and staff members themselves;
- In case of injury or death caused by doping or other prohibited drugs during the competition, all responsibilities shall be borne by the participant himself/herself;
- In order to protect the life and safety of the participants, the referees, medical personnel and other staff authorized by the Organizing Committee will have the right to terminate the qualification of the participants who are obviously unable to continue the race.
- The coverage age of this insurance plan is from 5 to 80 years old, based on the age of the insured person at the time the policy becomes effective. 70 to 80 years old insured person, his/her insurance amount for “Accidental Death, Disability Benefit” and “Sudden Death Benefit” will be half of the insured amount, and the premium will remain unchanged. The premium will remain unchanged.
- If an athlete experiences physical discomfort, related illnesses, or symptoms (including but not limited to heatstroke, fainting, etc.) during the competition due to their own reasons (including but not limited to chronic diseases, latent illnesses, insufficient physical endurance, etc.), and if the insurance company ultimately determines that the case is not within the scope of compensation, all resulting legal responsibilities and consequences (including but not limited to medical treatment costs, loss of earnings, disability compensation, death benefits, etc.) shall be borne solely by the athlete, and the Organizing Committee shall not be liable. Athletes are advised to carefully assess their physical condition before registering.
- The Organizing Committee will provide free pre-hospital emergency medical services during the event. However, all hospitalization and treatment expenses shall be initially paid by the injured party, who may subsequently initiate the insurance claims process with the Committee's assistance after treatment concludes.
- Any athlete who sustains personal injury or death during the competition due to the use of doping or other prohibited substances shall assume full legal responsibility for all resulting consequences (including but not limited to medical treatment costs, loss of income, disability compensation/benefits, death compensation, etc.), with the Organizing Committee bearing no liability whatsoever
- Self-insured Risks
Article 1176 of the Civil Code establishes the provision of “self-induced risk” in sports and cultural activities, which stipulates that if a person who voluntarily participates in sports and cultural activities with a certain degree of risk suffers damages due to the behavior of other participants, the victim shall not claim that the other participants are responsible for the damages. The victim may not hold the other participants liable in tort, unless the other participants are intentionally or grossly negligent in the occurrence of the damage; the liability of the activity organizer is governed by the provisions on the responsibility for safety and security.
- MEDICAL AID
- Medical Aid Stations and Ambulances are settled en-route (each 2.5km along the race course from 5km point to 40km point) and FINISH area.
- AED (Automated External Defibrillator) and Medical Rescue Service will patrol along race course.
- If a participant loses consciousness, the emergency medical service will automatically take all necessary measures for rescue, including but not limited to CPR, AED, and arranging for rapid transportation using vehicles if needed.
- Mobile Toilet Arrangements
The Organizing Committee will provide mobile toilets at the start/finish areas and along the course, while also making certain public restrooms available for participants. To protect the environment, athletes are strictly prohibited from urinating/defecating in non-toilet zones at the start/finish areas or along the route, and must properly dispose of masks, wrappers, bottles, and other waste in designated trash bins or garbage bags.
